MODESTLY IMMODEST

This morning I woke up, browsing through my social media-something I restrain from doing first thing in the morning to avoid anything negative at the beginning of my day. But the world is brewing with issues right now that seem endless, even though it's 2022. Though, technology advances and seemingly things change, the people stay the same. People are timeless, however we place no intrinsic value on being a person.

In my last chapter of Uncaged I mention some of my thoughts pertaining to the Hijab. The idea ties into this precedent of modesty that has been set for women across the globe and across centuries. Modesty and chastity are timeless issues that have their social-norms based in being controlling of many people-especially the rights of women and children. 

I can't tell the endless times I've come across the idea in this saying, "what do women want?" So what do we truly want. I guess we just want to revel in the human experience without giving up our bodily autonomies. A body isn't a territory to conquer, occupy, and control.. Regardless of my personal sentiments towards the hijab, the only thing I have ever truly wondered if the woman donning it did it by HER choice or some rule and condition. It is truly not women's fault if they're naturally graceful and alluring, beauty doesn't equate to lack of self-control. It's the eyes of the beholder that exploits them--censors the faculties of their existence to erase their Being.
